Like most blogs, this is all a personal opinion based on personal experience or input from others in the industry. So let’s begin shall we:

Screen Protectors

Starting the series off, I will start with screen protectors. If you’ve had multiple brands of screen protectors on your cell phones over the years, you will understand the difference in quality you can get from each protector. Like with cell phones, there are numerous options out there when it comes to screen protectors for LCD displays.
But my camera has a hardened glass LCD screen, do I really need a screen protector?
In my opinion – Most definitely. Screen protectors are much easier and less time consuming to replace than sending out your camera for a new LCD screen to be installed because there is a nice gouge across the display. You might even be a super handy person but the last thing I want to do is dismantle my DSLR and replace the screen. There is no way that would be easier and cheaper than protecting your screen from the start.
Screen protectors are cheap insurance – use them.
A good marketing strategy that has been used for years are the terms “resistant” vs. “proof”. If something is scratch resistant, that just simply means it’s harder to scratch, not that it’s impossible.
Won’t the screen protector distort my image on the display somehow?
Here is the fun part – don’t be cheap. You can go on ebay and find some Chinese super-glass that can be run over by a semi-truck and not scratch or break but I can promise you it’s not all it seems. Take the time, read the reviews and see from personal experience what screen protectors have the best reputation.
My personal choice – Giottos screen protectors.
Let the nerd talk out.
So why do I like Giottos? Well there is more reasons than just saying “because”. Here is a list of reasons why I personally like the Giottos screen protectors

  6. Zero air bubbles or color cast
  7. Easy install
  8. Easy replacement
  9. Low Cost
  10. Did I mention – Cheap (as in cost not quality)?
Sum it up already.
So to sum up this blog post because our attention spans run short; Do your research on screen protectors before spending your money. You may find that Giottos does not suit your needs and you may prefer GGS instead. No matter what the choice, definitely consider protecting your LCD screens. It’s cheap insurance and it’s a minimal cost. If anything, when the time comes to sell your camera, you can always pull it back off and have a spotless LCD Screen. I know it takes a lot of preparation, dedication and hard work to be a competitive high school athlete and even more so to be the best.
Seeing the high jumpers and pole vaulters has always impressed me. The though of running with a pole and catapulting yourself over a bar does sound fun, but I have a feeling I would fail miserably.
Good luck to all of those who continuously compete in high school sports. I believe it is a great opportunity to test yourself in sports because it helps you build courage, dedication and commitment for your future. I understand sports might not be for everyone, but you don’t have to do it on a competitive level, just playing a sport with your friends is enough to get minimal exercise. That’s something everyone benefits from.

Backyard Sports Club has a variety of sports you can play such as wiffleball, dodgeball and even womens indoor flag football. This party was held at Scotty Quixx in downtown Norfolk which did a great job accomodating the players. Each player was given a wrist band which gave them access to free beer. Needless to say there was plenty of wrist bands to keep the bartenders busy.
Throughout this season, I have had the opportunity to meet some great people and capture some pretty hilarious facial expressions. I really look forward to the next season of dodgeball and I just might take part in wiffleball in the mean time.

Langley is widely known for the home of the F-22 Raptors (27th Fighter Squadron [27 FS] & 94th Fighter Squadron [94 FS]) it also has great amenities for those who serve at this base in Hampton.
One of those amenities is the golf course. This golf course is a private 18-hole course in Hampton located on base. This golf course opened in the late 1940′s and has been through many renovations throughout the years. At one time this golf course had two 18-hole courses but one has since been cut due to budget constraints.

One being a 1979 Malibu owned by Brad Brauer. When this car was bought, the interior was red. Let me put a little more detail into it other than just giving a color. Think about a red velvet red plush interior from the 1970′s… yes it was pretty bad. Needless to say, it was dismantlement and put back together the right way. This car has a Reher Morrison big block to supplement the engine and all of the bells and whistles to follow. I wouldn’t have thought a 1979 Chevy Malibu could look as good as it does…. but this car is amazing.
The next two cars I don’t really know too much about but I’ll give you the details I do know. Starting with the beautiful blue Ford Mustang, this is a car that is (usually) driven to the track and then driven home. I guess I should mention it’s really, really fast. I believe he had the car down to the low 10′s (don’t quote me on that – it’s been a while). You can see this car usually parked at Dyno Tuned Performance (DTP) on Holland Road in Virginia Beach. There is a crazy story behind how this car became so, but I won’t ramble about that.
The last car that is being spotlighted is a true dragster. Driven by a fantastic driver, this car hooks up and rolls out with the quickness. I believe this car peaked in the 8 second quarter mile. This car also has a big block followed with all of the bells and whistles. You might be able to catch this car at VMP this upcoming summer.

It all started out with these two telling everyone that they were going to have a destination wedding but that they wanted all of the guest who could attend, to choose the location.
Jeremy and Monica set up a website and had all of the guest who wanted to participate choose their top choices for the wedding. These included Mexico, Hawaii, New Orleans or Costa Rico. They had a cut off date for the “voting” and then had planned for an announcement party to let everyone know what the destination would be and also because it’s an easy excuse to have a party.
The voting ended and it was time to have the announcement party. Everyone showed up and as it turns out, the big announcement was that they were getting married that day and there would be no destination wedding. The day was perfect, the weather was gorgeous, a lot of people were able to attend, it was fully catered and the partying went well into the evening.

As it turns out, the weather ended up being pretty decent that day and the Landstown Eagles were hosting the Green Run Stallions in a softball game. Once I got home, I packed up my gear and headed out to the fields.
Speaking with a parent of the pitcher for Green Run, she was explaining how they have had a few rough seasons and could never get runs scored for most games. Although this game was lopsided, they still managed to put 5 runs on the board.
The game ended with the Landstown Eagles coming out on top with a score of 15-5. I plan on attend a few more games throughout the season, so if you are a player or a parent, feel free to get in touch with me about obtaining any photos you see posted. Knowing that I wanted to add additional lighting to my shoots, I spent weeks sorting through reviews on which lighting offered the best “bang for your buck”. Paul C. Buff (PCB) is known for a
lot of great equipment at competitive price points without the sacrifice of quality. To highlight some of the features of the Einstein E640 flash it has a 9 f-stop power variability (2.5 Ws to 640Ws), an all digital control from a LCD display, 1/10 f-stop adjustability, color consistency +/- 50° at any power and last but not least it has the ability to be portable with the Vagabond portable power supply.
I can’t wait to set this unit up and test it out in various ways. Sadly like most items, this flash will cause me to buy other accessories such as sandbags, softboxes, Octoboxes and maybe even a snoot (yes, it’s really called a snoot).
